What Starts the Fat Santa Free Games
Fat Santa's free spins start on one combination only: Fat Santa on reel one plus at least one Wild Christmas Pie anywhere on the grid. That pair awards 5 free spins. The client calls the round Free Games, and with no scatter in this game there's no second natural way in; the only other route is the paid Bonus Buy.

Reel one is the narrow part.
Fat Santa is a wild that the paytable restricts to the leftmost reel, which means he can only land there. In the base game the other four reels never receive him, though in Free Games he walks across the grid to each pie. The pie half of the condition is looser: a single Wild Christmas Pie does the job wherever it lands.
We saw the pair three times in 96 paid spins at a 0.50 bet, on spins 61, 94 and 96. That is a tiny sample. Push Gaming publishes no trigger frequency, so read the three as a record of one session rather than a rate.
Five Spins, Then the Pie Meter
Every round opens with 5 free spins, and the pie meter on the right of the reels is the only way to add more. During Free Games, Santa stays on the reels and walks to each Christmas Pie that lands. Every pie he reaches goes into the meter.

Filling the meter pays out in spins on a sliding scale that the paytable prints: +3 the first time, +2 the second, +2 the third and +1 the fourth.
Pie Meter: Free Spins Added per Fill
| Meter fill | Extra spins | Running total |
|---|---|---|
| Start of the round | 5 | 5 |
| First fill | +3 | 8 |
| Second fill | +2 | 10 |
| Third fill | +2 | 12 |
| Fourth fill | +1 | 13 |
Read on ; the maker can change a screen without saying so.
The scale shrinks as it climbs. The first fill is worth as many spins as the third and fourth put together. That is why the opening spins of a round matter so much: they decide whether the meter moves at all.
The pie counts behind each fill come from the server's spin-by-spin record of four rounds, two triggered and two bought. The third triggered round ran eight spins, so it too stopped at one fill. The first fill lands on the 4th pie. The second lands on the 9th. The third and fourth thresholds were not reached in our five rounds, so we can't print them.
Thirteen free spins is therefore the ceiling: 5 to start, then 3, 2, 2 and 1 from the four meter fills. The bet sets what each line pays. Nothing in the rules ties the spin count to it.
Our three triggered rounds never came close. Each stopped at eight spins, the 5 starting ones plus 3 from a single fill, which is 62% of the possible 13. One bought round went further, to 10.
How Santa Grows on the Reels
Each meter fill makes Santa bigger, and a bigger wild covers more positions on the 50 fixed win lines. At the first fill he went from one cell to a 2x2 block. At the second, seen only in a bought round, he grew to 3x3.

That 3x3 is the biggest Santa we saw. Whether he grows any larger is not stated on any screen we read.
Our record can't separate the two effects, because a fill brings the bigger Santa and three more spins at the same moment. In round one the first four free spins paid nothing at all. Then the four spins after the fill paid every cent of 20.62. In round two the three spins before the fill paid 5.30, and the fill spin plus the four after it paid 8.76.
Across those two rounds, 29.38 of 34.68 arrived on or after the first fill, about 85%. Two rounds prove nothing about the long-run distribution, but they show where the value sat in ours. A round that never fills the meter is five spins with a one-cell wild.
Our Three Rounds, Spin by Spin
Our three natural rounds paid 20.62, 14.06 and 11.20 at a 0.50 bet, and each ran exactly eight free spins with one meter fill. They came on spins 61, 94 and 96 of the 96 paid spins we played in the studio's own demo on .
Our Three Free Games Rounds at a 0.50 Bet
| Triggered on spin | Free spins played | Meter fills | Round paid | Times the bet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 61 | 8 | 1 | 20.62 | 41x |
| 94 | 8 | 1 | 14.06 | 28x |
| 96 | 8 | 1 | 11.20 | 22x |
Together the three paid 45.88, or 63% of everything the session handed back (72.54). The best free spin in the two natural rounds logged spin by spin paid 9.02, which is 18x the bet. It came on the fifth spin of the first round, with 23 lines paying at once.
Ninety-six spins measure nothing about a 96.45% return to player. These figures are a picture of one session, not a forecast for anyone else.
One Round from the Server Log
The server log of the first round shows four free spins paying nothing, then 20.62 across the last four once the meter filled and Santa grew to 2x2. The demo server answers each spin with a record of it, and the record for spin 61 lays out the whole first round: pies on the meter, spins left and the win on every spin, in demo credits.
| Step | Pies on the meter | Spins left after | Lines paid | Win |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trigger in the base game | 0 → 2 | 5 awarded | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 1 | 2 | 4 | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 2 | 2 → 3 | 3 | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 3 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 4, meter fills, Santa 2x2 | 3 → 4 | 4 (+3) | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 5 | 4 → 5 | 3 | 23 | 9.02 |
| Free spin 6 | 5 | 2 | 12 | 1.12 |
| Free spin 7 | 5 → 7 | 1 | 13 | 2.50 |
| Free spin 8 | 7 → 8 | 0 | 23 | 7.98 |
Read down the Win column and the shape is plain. Four blank spins, then the meter fills on the fourth and Santa grows. After that 9.02, 1.12, 2.50 and 7.98 land in a row. The pie count climbed to eight, one short of the ninth pie a second fill needs.
Round two, from spin 94, ran differently but ended the same way.
| Step | Pies on the meter | Spins left after | Lines paid | Win |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trigger in the base game | 0 → 1 | 5 awarded | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 1 | 1 | 4 | 12 | 3.60 |
| Free spin 2 | 1 → 3 | 3 | 3 | 0.30 |
| Free spin 3 | 3 | 2 | 14 | 1.40 |
| Free spin 4, meter fills, Santa 2x2 | 3 → 5 | 4 (+3) | 9 | 2.98 |
| Free spin 5 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 0.00 |
| Free spin 6 | 5 | 2 | 4 | 0.40 |
| Free spin 7 | 5 | 1 | 12 | 4.20 |
| Free spin 8 | 5 → 6 | 0 | 6 | 1.18 |
Here the small wins started at once. The fill came on the same fourth spin, and the round finished six pies in, well short of round one's eight.
Where the Return Actually Came From
Free Games carried the whole session. Without the three rounds, the base game handed back 26.66 of the 48.00 staked, roughly 55.5%. The rounds added 45.88 and turned a 21.34 shortfall into a 24.54 gain.
| Part of the session | Staked | Returned | Share of the return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base game, 96 paid spins | 48.00 | 26.66 | 36.8% |
| Free Games, 3 rounds of 8 spins | 0.00 | 45.88 | 63.2% |
| Whole session | 48.00 | 72.54 | 100% |
That gain was luck, plain and simple. A 96-spin demo can just as easily end with no trigger at all. The client's theoretical return is 96.45%. The studio's page lists both 96.45% and 94.15%, noting that RTPs may vary per casino and pointing players to the loading screen and the user panel for the figure in play.
Our position, and one a reader could fairly dispute: Fat Santa is worth judging by its Free Games and almost nothing else, because a base game returning about half the stake between triggers is a waiting room with snow on it.
What the Sleigh Adds
The Santa's Sleigh Feature is a separate random event during a spin, in which the sleigh drops Christmas Pies at random positions where they lock and act as additional wilds. Pies alone can't open Free Games, since the trigger also needs Fat Santa on reel one.
In our session the sleigh fired three times, on spins 1, 20 and 67. It left 4, 4 and 3 pies and paid nothing on any of them.
Inside Free Games we never saw it. Across 42 free spins in five rounds the sleigh stayed away, and the rules do not say whether it can fire there.
Buying the Round Instead
The client also sells direct entry through its Bonus Buy at 80x the base bet, 40.00 at 0.50, with a separately stated theoretical return of 96.59% against 96.45% for the base game. The purchase guarantees Fat Santa on reel one and 1 to 4 Wild Christmas Pies on reels two to five.
We bought it twice at 0.50, spending 80.00 and getting 76.56 back. The first purchase paid 63.06, or 126x the bet, over 10 free spins. Its meter reached 9 pies and Santa grew to 3x3. The second paid 13.50, or 27x, over 8 spins with 7 pies on the meter.
Each of our three triggered rounds paid less than one 40.00 purchase: 20.62, 14.06 and 11.20. Two purchases measure nothing about the 96.59% figure, and three naturally triggered rounds predict nothing either, because a theoretical return describes millions of rounds rather than the next one. The cost table for all twelve bet levels is on our Bonus Buy checklist.
Weak Spots of the Feature
The trigger is the weakest part of the design. Fat Santa can appear on one reel of five, and a pie has to show on the very same spin.
The spin ceiling is short at 13, and every round we triggered ourselves stopped at eight.
We never saw Santa grow past 3x3, so we can't say what a fully grown Santa pays. That matters more than it sounds. The client prints no maximum win at all. The only ceiling-like figure on the studio's page is a "HIGHEST OBSERVED WIN" of 3,844x, which is exactly the number the studio also publishes for Fat Rabbit, its earlier sibling.
The studio labels the game's volatility "Mid - High" without ever explaining the classification, and the hit frequency is published nowhere.
Watching It for Nothing
The studio's free demo is the place to watch Free Games without staking anything. It sits behind an 18+ gate on Push Gaming's own site, plays in FUN credits from a 1,000.00 balance and follows the same PAYTABLE rules quoted above.
If you want to see the meter fill with your own eyes, run the demo at the default 0.50 and count the spins between triggers. It took us 61 spins to see the first. For longer sessions, the autoplay screen makes you pick a loss limit between x5 and x100 the bet before it starts. Pick a low one.
We do not recommend treating a winning demo session as a reason to play for money. Ours finished 24.54 up, and three lucky rounds explain the whole of it.
If none of that fits what you came for and you simply want the rules, open the PAYTABLE screen inside the client. The trigger, the walking Santa and the meter scale are printed there in the studio's own words.
